About Event Design

You Asked For It

WELCOME TO EVENT DESIGN, the magazine for builders of events, exhibits, and environments. Your magazine—created to provide you with access to the inspiration, resources, and ideas you need to bring brands and messages to life.

Event Design was created out of our belief that the next chapter in the growth of the event industry—which encompasses corporate events, exhibits, and environments—will be a focus on experience design, that tangible quality that fuses creativity with structure to stimulate a reaction and communicate a message to a defined audience.

Designers are the most important players in this rapidly growing space, where the walls between designing events, exhibits, and environments are coming down. But to achieve your full potential you need access to resources and a forum for sharing ideas and best practices. And that’s where Event Design comes in.

Our mission? Define, inform, and create a community for designers of events, exhibits, and environments.

We’ve spent the last year talking to many of you about your jobs, your clients, and your needs. We listened, and with this issue we respond. The magazine you’re holding is one piece of a multi-platform set of resources that we have developed just for you. Here’s what Event Design has in store for you:

Information to do your job better. The magazine serves designers in the event, exhibit, and environmental spaces with quality content written entirely by our in-house editorial team and full-time correspondents in Europe. Additional content and news will come from eventdesignmag.com and our upcoming Event Design Spotlight email newsletter. Plus, look for full expansions of many of the stories you’ll read here online at eventdesignmag.com.

Recognition to differentiate your company. Pull your best renderings and photos off the corkboard and prep them for our Event Design Awards, which recognize cutting-edge designs in events and exhibits and environments.

Conference for inspiration. The Event Design conference takes place every spring. Join fellow industrial designers, graphic designers, creative directors, and event architects from across the industry as they come together to share, educate, network, and build a blueprint for the future.

A means for recruiting talent. The Event Design Event Careers will connect employers with thousands of potential employees. Post a job (or find one) at eventdesignmag.com.

Academic advancement. Announcing the first-ever post-graduate certification program for event designers. A joint venture between Event Design and Auburn University’s Department of Industrial Design, the Certified Event Designer (CED) initiative will allow designers of all levels to stay current, get a handle on new techniques and technologies, and bolster careers through credit-earned post-grad education.

Help in cultivating the next generation. Announcing the industry’s first Event Design Intern program, a national endeavor whereby Event Design will facilitate connecting you with design interns from among dozens of design schools across the country.

You asked for it—and here we are. It’s an incredible time to be in the event design industry, and we’re as excited to be covering it as you are to be creating it. Welcome to Event Design. Finally, a magazine to call your own.

Regards,
